Venus Lau

Golf Performance and Lifestyle Coaching

Venus Lau is located in Los Angeles, California.  She holds multiple training certifications (NASM-CPT, Kettlebell, TRX, EFTI) as well as having the unique background of playing NCAA Division-I golf for Baylor University, being the TRX and Golf Fitness coach at the prominent Jonathan Club, and is also the Golf Performance Coach at Velocity Sports Performance gym in West LA.

Venus has many years of athletic/fitness experience, including 10 years of competitive golf and 7 years of competitive swimming and has trained with multiple strength and conditioning coaches.  She also was taught by Golf Magazine and Golf Digest top ranked PGA golf teachers (Butch Harmon, Dick Harmon, Phil Ritson, Rina Ritson, Brian Gathright).

Her energetic nature and sense of humor suit all types of individuals. From actors to moms to busy executives to athletes, she has trained them all. And she also uses a variety of methods to train each client for their individual goals.

But what makes Venus unique is her story and why she values a healthy lifestyle…

As a kid she was very shy and discovered that she could express herself through sports and art, two things she felt were very natural.  Venus played every sport available to her and even got her own gym membership at the age of 13.  Working out 3-5 times a week was already habit and she started to learn how to cook from her parents who owned a restaurant.  She went on to play NCAA Division-I golf for Baylor University, then her father and mother were diagnosed with cancer.  After losing both of her parents to cancer, she realized that life is too short to not follow her dreams of living at the beach, writing screenplays, and keeping fit in the Cali sun.  And a few years later she made her love of fitness a reality and became a personal trainer to energize and “awesome”-ize others.  But because of her own struggles she understands what it means to be truly healthy… From the inside-out.  Emotion leads to attitude.   Information leads to ideas.  Nutrition leads to function.  Fitness leads to performance.  And with all this struggle, guidance is necessary to evolve and achieve this self-love or what most like to call “a healthy lifestyle.”

Venus’s approach to fitness is balance, posture, strength, function, and performance with the latest fitness knowledge for her clients to achieve their goals.  Mottos…

“Food is your Fuel, Working Out is your Tool!”

“Love what you do, and it will love you back!”

“Funny thing about life, if you refuse to accept nothing but the best, you very often get it.”

“Work smart, Play hard, Love deeply.”

Mary Allen

Yoga and Pilates Instructor (Mind Body Coach)

Mary is a 300-hour Alliance Certified Yoga and Pilates instructor. She has been teaching at CorePower Yoga for 4 years and specializes in Yoga Sculpt, Vinyasa and Pilates. Born and raised in Boston, MA Mary Allen’s passion for yoga began in high school when her mother took her to a Bikram class. The feeling of openness and clarity she felt after spending 90 minutes focusing only on her body and breath lit a flame inside her that has only grown brighter since. She could not get enough yoga! Before a move to California in her early twenties, Mary was a devout follower of the famed Boston-based teacher Baron Baptiste and his unique style of power vinyasa yoga. Upon arriving in San Diego Mary became a self-proclaimed “yoga sponge”, taking in as much yoga as she could and experimenting with all variations of the practice. Mary’s exploration of yoga led her to CorePower, where her positive experiences as a student motivated her to become certified as a teacher. Mary considers becoming a yoga teacher the best thing she has ever done for herself. The practice of yoga has been a constant for Mary through life’s ups and downs and being able to bring yoga into the lives of others, she finds to be truly rewarding. Mary’s goal as a teacher is to help her students to “let go” of outside influences when they step on their mat. Her philosophy on teaching yoga is for students to find clarity of mind and to become present in their bodies while still receiving a challenging and fun work out.
